One Book, One TV Show: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

There’s isn’t anything I can say about a novel that’s been around since the 1800’s that hasn’t already been said, so I’m not going to try. Pride and Prejudice isn’t my usual kind of read but it was fun none the less. It was like getting caught up in a soap opera where you see what the characters are doing wrong and the misunderstandings. You either want to yell at them or roll your eyes. And then you’re relieved when everything works out.

The TV show I watched after reading the novel was the 1995 BBC mini-series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet. With the book still fresh in my mind I think it took away from some of the enjoyment of watching the show, but it was still fun to see the characters live. The two leads played their parts perfectly and Julia Sawalha played annoying Lydia most annoyingly.
